The South Florida Bulls have fired men’s basketball coach Orlando Antigua. The program is in the midst of an academic fraud investigation.
Mark Harlan, the USF athletic director, sent a letter to the donors on Tuesday morning announcing Antigua’s firing.
“After a thorough and deliberate review of our men’s basketball program, a decision has been made to make a head coaching change,” Harlan wrote in the letter. “I met with Coach Antigua earlier today to inform him of this and to thank him for his service to USF. We wish Coach Antigua and his family the very best.”

Murry Bartow has been named interim head coach. During Antigua’s tenure, the team was 23-55 since the 2014-15 season.
This season, the team is 6-7 and 0-2 in the American Athletic Conference. Their next game is on Saturday against the SMU Mustangs.
In July, ESPN reported that South Florida was being investigated for academic fraud. Following their investigation, Antigua’s brother Oliver resigned.

Antigua came to South Florida after spending six years as an assistant coach under John Calipari with the Memphis Tigers and the Kentucky Wildcats.
