The New York Jets have a mess at the quarterback position. Ryan Fitzpatrick is not expected to be back, while both Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg were back-to-back quarterback draft picks in the last two NFL Drafts.
Petty was selected in the fourth-round, while Hackenberg was the 51st overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. However, according to The Big Lead, their sources does not believe Hackenberg “will never make it.”
According to Manish Mehta, a New York Daily News writer, who asked a Jets starter if Hackenberg was worth the second-round pick, they said, “No.” Another source told Mehta, “He will never make it. Never.”
An anonymous source claimed on Thursday that Hackenberg could not throw the ball into the ocean. After hearing that, Jets owner Woody Johnson said, “I guess it depends which ocean.”
While other rookies seen time at the quarterback position around the league, Hackenberg did not see a single snap. He’s also 21-years-old after coming out of Penn State following his junior year.
He did not even see a snap in the Jets 30-10 win over the Buffalo Bills win in Week 17.
