According to the Daily Northwestern, former basketball player Jordan Hankins’ death has been ruled a suicide. The Cook County Medical Examiner released their report on Tuesday.

Hankins was found in her dorm room on Monday afternoon in the Foster-Walker Complex. The law enforcement authorities were called to the complex after 3 pm, according to Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan.

They then investigated the death of the 19-year-old. She was a sophomore on the women’s basketball team and, according to the Daily Northwestern, a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

The newspaper, according to her Facebook page, said she was studying the pre-med track.

“We are heartbroken and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jordan Hankins,” athletic director Jim Phillips said on Monday. “Our love and thoughts are with her family, teammates and friends. Jordan made a dramatic impact on our Wildcats community. Our department is solely focused on supporting those who adored her.”
