The California Golden Bears have hired their new head coach. No, their new head coach’s name is not Chip Kelly.

The former San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles head coach in the National Football League is still unemployed at the moment. The Bears have hired Justin Wilcox to replace Sonny Dykes, who was fired on Sunday, January 8.

He replaces Dykes, who is 47-years-old, and went 19-30, including 10-26 in the Pac-12 Conference, in four years at the school. Dykes was 41-45 overall in seven seasons.

While it will be Wilcox’s first head coaching job, this will be his second-tenure with the Bears. He was previously their linebackers coach from 2003 to 2005.

Prior to taking the Badgers defensive coordinator job, he was the Southern California (USC) Trojans defensive coordinator from 2014 to 2015.

He was also the Washington Huskies defensive coordinator in 2012 and 2013. Wilcox also served two seasons as the Tennessee Volunteers defensive coordinator in 2010 and 2011.
