Preview: Montclair State @ TCNJ MBB

On Saturday afternoon, the Montclair State University Red Hawks faces The College of New Jersey Lions men’s basketball team at Packer Hall in Ewing, N.J. The game is slated to start at approx. 3 pm EST.

The Lions are 10-5 and the Red Hawks are 8-6. Montclair State is 3-1 on the road and TCNJ is 7-0 at home.

MSU is 5-2 within the New Jersey Athletic Conference. TCNJ is 6-2 in conference play.

In the past 10 games between these two teams, each team has won five times. The Lions won the last meeting as they defeated the Red Hawks 93-76 on Feb. 21, 2016. They also won Jan. 28, 2015 when they won 65-62.

TCNJ also won Nov. 22, 2014 when they won 72-58. The Lions won 74-72 on Jan. 15, 2014 and 66-57 on Jan. 9, 2013.

The Red Hawks lost won in this series on Nov. 21, 2015 when they won 83-63. They also won 68-58 on Feb. 19, 2014 and 99-83 on Feb. 13, 2013.

Montclair State also won 68-57 on Jan. 28, 2012 and 74-57 on Jan. 22, 2011.

TCNJ has won their last two games. They have not lost a game since Jan. 7, 2017 when they lost 98-88 to the Ramapo College of New Jersey Roadrunners.

Montclair State has won three straight games. They have not lost since Dec. 30, 2016 when they were defeated 89-82 to the Cabrini College Cavaliers in the 37th Roosevelt’s 21st Greyhounds Classic.

The Red Hawks are averaging 69.4 points per game. They are giving up 69.2 points.

The Lions are averaging 78.6 points per game. They are giving up 68.7 points.

Brandon Channer leads the Red Hawks attack with 15.6 points per game. Rahsaan Johnson is averaging 7.1 rebounds and Jovanni Chatham is averaging 2.5 assists per game.

Bobby Brackett leads the Lions attack with 16.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Eric Murdoch Jr. is averaging 5.3 assists per game.
