On Saturday night during the Monster Jam event at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., legendary Grave Digger Monster Truck driver Dennis Anderson was injured. In an attempt to do a backflip, he landed on the hood of the truck.

“Unfortunately, Dennis Anderson sustained an injury during the 7 p.m. performance of Monster Jam on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.,” Amanda Regan, Monster Jam spokeswoman told The Capital Sports Report. “Medical care professionals tended to Anderson on-site and then transported him to a local hospital for further evaluation. No further updates are available at this time.”

The 56-year-old is the creator of Grave Digger and the most successful driver in Monster Jam history. He has competed in the sport since 1982.

He has four World Finals Championships. Three of them were in the racing category, while the other came in Freestyle.

Seconds after he flipped over, medical personnel and Monster Jam officials went to his aid. It took them several minutes to get him out.

During the show on his freestyle, he had a 42 score.

Anderson was scheduled to also compete in Tampa, Fla. a few weeks from now. However, that will not happen now.

At press time, we do not have any other information besides what we have provided already. As we receive more information from either Anderson’s children or from Monster Jam, we will pass it along.

If this is the end of Anderson as a Monster Jam driver, he goes down as one of the greatest drivers of all time.

“Want thank everyone for the kind words for dad,” Monster Truck driver Adam Anderson said in an Instagram post. “Yes he was injured and all that needs to be known is he’s getting better. He just called me to tell me what to do with to fix the problem. Anyone that knows Dad knows he’s more worried about making the fans happy than himself. It’s part of our lifestyle yes it’s scary but that’s what makes life exciting. Dad’s always telling me what to do #dadlife
