The Cleveland Browns are close to re-signing outside linebacker Jamie Collins to a contract extension. Official contract details are not known at this time.
Collins was traded to the Browns from the New England Patriots on Halloween. The Patriots received a conditional 2017 third-round draft pick.
The 27-year-old made eight starts with the Browns. He had 48 tackles, 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble.
When he was a member of the Patriots, he appeared in seven games, including six starts. He had 31 tackles, 1.0 sacks, one forced fumble, three pass deflections, and two interceptions for 31 yards.
The 2018 season will be his fifth in the National Football League. He spent his first three seasons with the Patriots before being traded in his fourth-season.
Collins reportedly had issues with the Patriots front office before being moved. Head coach Bill Belichick is not scared to get rid of his good players as New England continues to be a top team in the AFC no matter who is on their team.
