The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly interested in acquiring Atlanta Hawks center Dwight Howard. He just signed with his hometown team in July 2016.

But the Hawks would like to rebuild — or it seems. They traded Kyle Korver to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Mike Dunleavy Jr., Mo Williams, and a first-round draft pick.

The Hawks dealt Williams to the Denver Nuggets for cash on Tuesday morning. Dunleavy Jr. is reportedly going to be traded again by the trade deadline in February.

Paul Millsap is reportedly still on the trade block — even though general manager Wes Wilcox informed him that he will not be moved. The Sacramento Kings and the Los Angeles Lakers were interested in acquiring Millsap.

We’ll look at a second proposed deal that the Pelicans can do to get their man in Howard. They would like to partner Howard and Anthony Davis together in their form of Twin Towers.

The Pelicans can send Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans to the Hawks in exchange for Howard. The team would work, according to ESPN’s Trade Machine.

Both players in Holiday and Evans are a free agent this summer. If they could also trade Millsap and Dunleavy Jr., they’ll have a lot of money this summer to either sign or trade for their new franchise player.

Holiday is averaging 13.9 points per game in 28 games, including 22 starts. He also has 3.4 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.4 blocks.

He’s making $11.2 million this season.

Evans is averaging 10.3 points per game in 15 games, all off the bench. He’s also averaging 3.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.2 blocks.

He’s making $10.2 million this season.

Howard is averaging 13.2 points per game in 37 starts. He’s also averaging 13 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.4 blocks.

He is in the first-year of a three-year, $70 million deal with the Hawks. He’s making $23.1 million this season.
