The Golden State Warriors are starting recently-acquired Matt Barnes in the small forward position. He’ll replace Patrick McCaw, who has played the past few games without Kevin Durant.
The Warriors play the New York Knicks at 3 pm on ABC from Madison Square Garden in New York.
Durant was injured on February 28th against his hometown Washington Wizards. On March 1, it was released that he was going to miss several weeks before returning for the playoffs.
Almost immediately after Durant was injured when Wizards center Marcin Gortat pushed Warriors center Zaza Pachulia into Durant, the Warriors changed their plans. They were going to sign José Calderón; however, they needed depth at the small forward position, so they signed Barnes instead after releasing Calderón.
The Warriors have lost their past two games — to the Wizards and to the Chicago Bulls. McCaw was the starter against the Bulls — and he also started a game earlier this season when Durant missed a game.
