On Saturday night, it is supposed to be a match-up between the two-best teams in the Western Conference. While that is the case, the San Antonio Spurs will be without their best player.
Kawhi Leonard will miss the game, as he was placed in concussion protocol on Friday night. He was injured on Thursday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Thunder defeated the Spurs 102-92 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. He was injured in the third quarter of the game after being hit in the face, despite the team refusing to call it a concussion after the game.
With the Warriors facing the Minnesota Timberwolves this evening, the Spurs have a chance to move within a half-game of the Warriors for first-place in the Western Conference. If the Warriors win, it would remain a game.
Leonard, who is having a career season, is averaging 26.2 points and 3.4 assists per game. According to theScore.com, San Antonio is nine points per 100 possessions better with Leonard on the floor than without him.
The loss on Thursday snapped the Spurs 10-game win streak. The Warriors have won just two games since Kevin Durant went out with his injury.
