Following the NXT TakeOver: Orlando, Drew McIntyre revealed to ESPN that he was signing with the WWE NXT brand. The 31-year-old returns to his former employer after several years away.

“Why wouldn’t I be here at NXT TakeOver?” McIntyre said. “I don’t know if you have been following me the past few years, or what I’ve done. I’ve traveled the world and won every championship there is to win. What is the next logical step? Where the best superstars are in the world with the top prize the NXT Championship. And that’s exactly what I want.

“If that’s not clear enough, Drew McIntyre has signed with NXT.”

When he was previously in the WWE, he was in the championship picture. However, it was never for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
