Akira Towaza defeated Brian Kendrick to open up 205 Live from the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla. Towaza faked an injury to his knee/leg late in the match and after the the referee moved out of his way, he went for the small package on Kendrick.
Three seconds later, Towaza defeated Kendrick. Then, Towaza said from outside the ring that he taught Kendrick Lesson No. 1.
Rich Swann defeated NXT’s challenger Oney Larkin. Despite putting up some hard-hitting moves, Larkin lost as Swann got the win with the Phoenix Splash.
Following the match, he said it was him, not Noam Dar, who has been sending Alicia Fox gifts from chocolate and even lingerie over the past several weeks.
Next was the Fatal Fourway featuring Gentleman Jack Gallagher, TJ Perkins, Mustafa Ali and Austin Aries for the No. 1 Contender for the Cruiserweight Championship, presently held by Neville. Aries used the Discus Fivearm on Perkins to get the win.
It’ll be a rematch of WrestleMania 33, as Aries gets another shot at Neville for the belt. In the biggest event of the year, Neville retained his belt over Aries to begin the pre-show.
Aries, when he gets his next title shot, will try to stop Neville’s win streak that dates back to October 2016.
