The Boston Red Sox will be without starting right fielder Mookie Betts on Saturday.
He’s been dealing with the flu that has been going around the team’s clubhouse. Barring any significant changes, he may miss Sunday’s game, as well.
He has not played in this series with the Detroit Tigers. Betts also missed Friday’s series-opener.
He got sick earlier in the week. Betts also missed the series-finale with the Pittsburgh Pirates at Fenway Park on Wednesday.
He has only played in one game this season. In the one game that he played in, he went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk.
In Friday’s contest, Red Sox manager John Farrell started Chris Young in right field and batted his fifth. The team has yet to announce that Young will get another start, but it appears that way, because Young is behind Betts on the depth chart.
