Former NFL wide receiver Louis Murphy was arrested on Wednesday morning when he was at Tampa International Airport. Murphy, who last played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was charged with illegally carrying a concealed weapon.
This was first reported by the Tampa Bay Times. This is a felony charge that he is facing, as the weapon was found at a security checkpoint.
He paid $2,000 bond and was released on Wednesday afternoon.
Murphy did not play in a single game during the 2016 season after being injured during the preseason. He was then released by the team in November.
During the 2014 and 2015 seasons with the Buccaneers, he played in 17 games. He had 41 receptions for 578 yards and two touchdowns.
He began his career with the Oakland Raiders, where he played the first three-years. He then spent a season each with the Carolina Panthers and the New York Giants before going to Tampa Bay.
