Clay Millican is the No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel at the 30th annual NHRA SpringNationals at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas. Millican picked up his fifth No. 1 qualifier of his career in his Parts Plus/Great Clips dragster.

Millican had a 3.722 at 328.22 mph on Friday that was able to hold up on Saturday. He’ll face Steve Chrisman, as he went 5.767 at 119.17 mph, in the first-round of eliminations on Sunday.

“It is really cool for me to qualify No. 1 by a thousandth,” he said. “Since we did qualify No. 1, my plan is to go out there and stomp on that loud pedal four times and turn on that win light four times. These races are getting harder and harder, but we have a good car.”

Antron Brown, the back-to-back Top Fuel reigning champion, qualified second in his Matco Tools dragster at 3.723 at 322.50 mph. He’ll face Terry Haddock, who went 3.980 at 301.74 mph, in the first-round.

Doug Kalitta, the Mac Tools dragster pilot, qualified third with his 3.731 at 327.03 mph pass. He’s facing Terry McMillen, as the Amalie Motor Oil pilot went 3.891 at 316.97 mph.

Capco Contractors pilot Steve Torrence – and Texas native – qualified fourth with his 3.743 at 321.58 mph. He’s facing Shawn Reed in the first-round, who went 3.869 at 320.43 mph.

Monster Energy pilot Brittany Force qualified fifth with her 3.745 at 327.27 mph pass. She’s racing SealMaster rookie Troy Coughlin Jr., who went 3.862 at 316.82 mph.
