The Payback pay-per-view began with Chris Jericho defeating his former friend, Kevin Owens, to win the United States Championship at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. Jericho used the Walls of Jericho to get the submission win.

Jericho — who was supposed to make his last appearance on Raw on Monday — will now report to Smackdown. Maybe they re-signed him and he is not going touring with his band just yet.

Austin Aries then defeated Neville via a disqualification. Neville pulled the referee as he attempted to break a hold.

The referee had no choice but to call the match.

The Hardy Boyz retained their Raw Tag Team Championships with a win over Sheamus and Cesaro. Jeff Hardy pinned Sheamus after a Swanton Bomb.

As they have done in the recent weeks, the two teams shook hands. However, this time, it was different, as Cesaro attacked Jeff and then Sheamus joined in and attacked Matt.

They also posed with the championship belts.

Alexa Bliss defeated Bayley to win the Raw Women’s Championship. After Bayley crashed into the ring post, Bliss hit her with a DDT for the win.

This is Bliss’ first Raw Championship. She came to the signature brand during the Superstar Shake Up.

Seth Rollins defeated Samoa Joe. Joe said he was going destroy Rollins for beating Triple H and hurting Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania, but that was not the case.

Joe had him in the Coquina Clutch, but Rollins then put The Samoan Submission Machine in a Fireman’s Carry, then into a cradle for the win.

In the “House of Horrors” match, Bray Wyatt won over Randy Orton. Orton — who is on the Smackdown Live brand — lost because it was a four-on-one attack near the end of the match.

Jinder Mahal, who stole his belt on Smackdown Live on Tuesday, and The Singh Brothers — who were previously known as The Bollywood Boyz — attacked Orton. Wyatt then used Sister Abigail to get the win.

Braun Strowman then defeated Roman Reigns. Reigns had his upper body heavily taped. Yet, Strowman got the win following two power bombs.

After the match, Strowman brought the ring steps into the ring and tosses them at Reigns. He then slammed Reigns’ ribs into the steps, before slamming them into his chest.
