Everyone is proclaiming that this year’s 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby is a “wide open race” at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. However, Always Dreaming has been the odds-on favorite for quite so time.
At this present time, Always Dreaming is a 4-1 favorite. Yet, with our pick, we are not going with the favorite.

Sure, we know that Always Dreaming is trying to become the fifth straight favorite to win the roses. But we’re going with Irish War Cry, who has 9-1 odds presently.
Irish War Cry is a New Jersey horse and has the 17th post. Always Dreaming has the 5th post.
Always Dreaming is expected to take the early lead, especially on the muddy track. However, we believe that this horse is going to fall back as the race goes into the final stretch.
We believe that when Always Dreaming falls back, Irish War Cry will be able to capitalize and will win the race.
Irish War Cry is jockeyed by Rajiv Maragh. He has never won the Kentucky Derby. But he has over 1,000 career wins — and has won high-profile races in the past.
