The Philadelphia Eagles made an unexpected move on Wednesday. The team has signed free agent running back LeGarrette Blount to a one-year deal.
He had a low-ball offer from the New England Patriots despite having a career season and leading the team in rushing. Blount had 18 touchdowns, only Tom Brady had more.
With the Eagles, he joins a loaded backfield that already includes Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles. The backfield also has Wendell Smallwood, who joined the team during the 2016 NFL Draft.
The Eagles also joined Donnel Pumphrey, who was their fourth-round pick.
