The run for Indianapolis 500 rookie Fernando Alonso is over. The Formula One driver had engine problems that cost him his shot at winning the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Alonso, who reportedly makes $40 million a year in Formula One, left with 21 laps to go in the race. He had no notice of his engine dying shortly after crossing the finish line for the final time.
