Roberto Aguayo was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers second-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. However, he may be on the employment line sooner rather than later.
He struggled on the team’s recent OTA, where he went just 5-of-9 in two OTA practices. The practices were open to the media.
Nick Folk, who was signed by the team to compete with him, went 9-for-9 in his kicks, which were all the same distance as Aguayo’s. According to Rick Stroud, the long-time Tampa Bay Times Buccaneers reporter, he does not believe that Aguayo has a future with the team.
Just one year ago, general manager Jason Licht traded up to get him. In his first-season with the Bucs, he had a league-low 71% field goal rate.
The 32-year-old Folk, who has kicked for the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets, has a lifetime 81.3% field goal rate.
