A UFC Hall of Famer was seriously injured on Friday. According to TMZ Sports, Matt Hughes was seriously injured when he was involved in a car accident on Friday when his truck collided with a moving train.

TMZ reports the incident happened at 10:39 am CST in Illinois. The law enforcement said one person was transported to a local hospital — and UFC president Dana White said the injured party is Hughes.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing. They are still trying to figure out what happened.

According to White, “Hughes suffered head trauma and his family is on their way out to be with him.”

Hughes was a two-time welterweight champion, who has defeated Georges St-Pierre, BJ Penn and Royce Gracie in his career. He has not fought for the promotion since 2011.

He was considering a comeback earlier this season, but now, like he’s done in the Octagon, he’s fighting for his life.
