Alex Laughlin has barely races in Pro Stock this season. However, on Father’s Day, he guided his Gas Monkey Energy Pro Stock Chevy Camaro to the win for his second career Wally.
Laughlin had a perfect reaction time in the final round against Bo Butner. He went 6.718 at 205.04 mph, while the Jim Butner’s Auto Chevy Camaro, driven by Butner, went 6.729 at 205.79 mph.
“We didn’t really have anything handed to us,” Laughlin said. “We had some good matchups all day. I definitely feel like I had a point to prove. We have a competitive car on the startling line. I came into this weekend with the confidence to win.”
Prior to this final round, Laughlin had a 2-0 record against Butner. Laughlin also won his first career race against Butner.
The Gas Monkey Energy driver never trailed in the race. He had the quickest pass of the weekend.
Laughlin now has a Wally in only three Pro Stock events this season. He won by 0.0495 seconds, or approx. 15 feet.
Laughlin has not been running a full Pro Stock schedule this season, because he’s been trying to earn his Top Fuel ride. He has been driving an A/Fuel Dragster at a few national events, as well.
