The No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft is expected to get the day off on Thursday. Markelle Fultz will not be leading the Philadelphia 76ers onto the court for the first-time this summer.
He has impressed in the past two Utah NBA Summer League games. He’s not expected to play in their finale against the San Antonio Spurs, according to Summer League head coach Billy Lange.
The move is to give Fultz some time to rest. He had 23 points, five assists and five rebounds in 26 minutes in Wednesday night’s loss to the Utah Jazz.
He could be back on the court on Saturday as the Las Vegas Summer League begins.
Lange has been running many Fultz-filled sets while the team has been playing in Utah. Fultz, who many believe was the most-ready player in the draft, has had 40 points in his first two Summer League games despite the 76ers having an 0-2 record.
