Philadelphia 76ers No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz suffered a sprained ankle on Saturday night against the Golden State Warriors. The injury looked worse than it appeared.
He needed help from his teammates to get off of the court.
This was the best news that the 76ers could have received.
Philadelphia has been hampered by injuries in the past. Ben Simmons, who was last year’s No. 1 overall pick, and Joel Embiid, who was the third overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, missed entire seasons due to injuries.
He had X-rays done at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. It does not appear, at least with this sprained ankle news, that he did not break any bones in his foot or his ankle.
The 76ers are definitely going to hold him out of at least home Las Vegas Summer League game, possibly more. It would not be surprising if the 76ers hold him out for the rest of this Summer League as a precaution.
After the 76ers went 0-2 in the Utah Summer League, the team made the decision to hold Fultz out of their summer finale against the San Antonio Spurs.
