In Sports, one minute you could be the hero. The next minute, you could be in a funk so bad that you’re unemployed and looking for employment elsewhere.
For Texas Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo, he was the hero on Saturday night. He hit the game-winning single in the ninth inning against the Kansas City Royals.
He hit the single with one out off of Danny Duffy, who was trying to pick up the win before the pitch.
Choo needed the hit, because he’s clearly been struggling. Prior to the hit, he was hitless in his past 12 at-bats.
In fact, the 0-for-12 hitless streak is not the worst for him this month. In fact, he has just gone 4-for-29 for a .138 batting average in July.
In the past seven games, including his hitless streak, he has a double and two RBIs. His batting average has also dropped from .257 to .246.
The Rangers are hoping that this game-winning hit will give him the confidence moving forward and get back on track.
