Antonio Silva has signed with GLORY kickboxing. The former UFC competitor struggled in MMA before deciding to change his combat sports path.

Silva, who is known as “Big Foot,” has a 19-12-1 record within the octagon. Instead of taking on another competitor, he’s going right after the champion.

He has a match set up with Rico Herhoeven, the GLORY kickboxing heavyweight champion, set for Oct. at GLORY 46. The event will take place at the Guangzhou Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China on Oct. 14.

This bout will headline the SuperFight Series, and will stream on UFC Fight Pass.

The 37-year-old Silva has lost his past five MMA fights. He last fought on June 2, 2017 against Vitaly Minakov at FNG – Fight Nights Global 68, where he lost by a second-round knockout .

If you include his last ten fights, he only has one win. He’s 1-8-1 during this time with the win coming over Soa Paleiei at UFC 190 – Rousey vs. Correia. He needed just 41 seconds into the second-round to defeat Paleiei. The draw came against Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night 33 – Hunt vs. Big foot when the two fought to a majority draw.

Verhoeven is on a seven-fight win streak, including winning his last bout win over Ismael Lazaar by unanimous decision at Glory 41: Holland. This was one of five bouts that he has won since he captured the Glory heavyweight championship.

He has been the Glory heavyweight champion since June 21, 2014 when he defeated Daniel Ghiță at Glory 11: Chicago by a unanimous decision.
