While TMZ is reporting that Jon Jones has been stripped of his UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, UFC President Dana White says that’s not the case yet. The head of the mixed martial arts company has admitted that Jones failed yet another drug test.
If the belt goes back to Cormier, it’s the second-time that he has lost the belt. He was stripped of the belt following a 2015 hit-and-run incident.
After Jones was stripped of the belt, Cormier won the belt and held it until the UFC 214 fight on July 29 in Anaheim, Calif. He was flagged for a USADA violation in relation to the fight.
He has been suspended as a result — and reportedly is facing a four-year ban this time around. Following his July 2016 violation, he was suspended for a year.
TMZ reports that Jones took an anabolic steroid, Turinabol. He failed a drug test prior to the UFC 200 in July 2016. He reportedly took estrogen blockers, which he blamed on a male enhancement pill.
