According to ABC4News in Utah, Real Salt Lake player Ricardo Velazco has been charged with unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

The 24-year-old athlete was charged in the 3rd District Court with the felony, which is a third-degree felony, following the May 20th incident. The incident involved a 15-year-old girl, the documents say.

The soccer play was 23-years-old when this incident took place. No other details were released at this time.

Major League Soccer has also suspended him from all soccer-related activites following the charges. Both MLS and Real Salt Lake are cooperating with the law enforcement authorities.

“With all allegations of criminal nature, Real Salt Lake policy is to honor the judicial process while cooperating fully with both local authorities as well as the league investigation,” the team said in a statement. “Major League Soccer has now suspended Mr. Velazco from all soccer-related activity. Real Salt Lake will await the outcome of judicial proceedings prior to taking additional action.”

The incident reportedly happened in Draper, Utah.

“Ricardo did give a statement to the police early on, has tried to be cooperative,” his legal counsel Greg Skordas said.

Velazco is expected to surrender to the authorities on Friday. At this time, there is no court date scheduled, but may be once he surrenders.

The soccer player signed with the team in Sept. 2016 after spending two seasons with the Real Monarchs.
