As expected, the New England Patriots have lost wide receiver Julian Edelman for the season. The MRI has confirmed that he suffered a torn ACL.
Edelman will now be facing a several month rehab to bounce back from this injury. He will not be back until the 2018 season.
He was injured on the opening drive against the Detroit Lions on Friday night. On the drive, he went to make a cut and his knee buckled.
This was a non-contact injury, which are normally the worst.
Tom Brady will have to find a new favorite target as Edelman was that individual. Chris Hogan and Brandin Cooks, who they acquired in an off-season trade with the New Orleans Saints, are expected to get more targets now.
When Edelman returns, he’ll be entering the first-year of the two-year, $11 million deal he signed in the off-season. He’ll be 32-years-old, as well.
