The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide has a huge — possibly their toughest season opener contest ever — as they open the season with the No. 3 Florida State Seminoles in just six days. However, they may be without Raekwon Davis, who is expected to start at defensive tackle.
Davis was shot in the leg early Sunday morning, according to the Tuscaloosa News. While the paper is indicating it was him, the law enforcement authorities are not saying it was Davis.
The police did say, though, the victim was hit with a stray bullet. They also recovered shell casings in a parking lot.
“The victim told investigators he was standing outside of Bar 17 when he heard several gunshots and realized he had been shot in the right leg,” Capt. Gary Hood told the paper. “The victim was uncooperative with investigators.”
He played in seven games last season as a freshman. He had four tackles and a sack.
At this time, it’s not clear if the Crimson Tide will have Davis in the season-opener.
