According to the San Francisco Chronicle‘s Eric Branch, he returned to the sidelines. However, he was not allowed to go back into the game.
Foster was drafted by the 49ers out of the Alabama Crimson Tide. The 49ers got a steal when he fell to them late in the first-round.
He’s expected to be a key defensive player for them, barring any significant length of time away from the game. Besides Foster, NaVorro Bowman has also struggled to stay health in recent years.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said the X-rays were negative. He’s expected to return to the team soon.
