Foster was drafted by the 49ers out of the Alabama Crimson Tide. The 49ers got a steal when he fell to them late in the first round.
He’s expected to be a key defensive player for them, barring any significant length of time away from the game. Besides Foster, NaVorro Bowman has also struggled to stay healthy in recent years.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said the X-rays were negative. He’s expected to return to the team soon.
At press time, Shanahan did not say whether Foster would be able to return next week. Or if the rookie will be sidelined for some time before returning.
