According to TMZ Sports, the Los Angeles Lakers have a date set to retire Kobe Bryant’s jersey. The gossip website, who dabbles into sports, too, says the purple and gold will retire his jersey on Dec. 18 against the Golden State Warriors.

The team has yet to confirm the news. But, according to the site, they sent a letter to season-ticket holders advising them to “hold on to your tickets for the game on Dec. 18”. The team said in the letter that there will be a ‘special event’ for that game.

TMZ said, according to their sources, it’s Bryant’s jersey retirement day. The only question for Bryant and the Lakers will be what number will they retire? He wore No. 8 and No. 24 in his career.

He had good accolades with both, so it would not be surprising if the team retired both numbers. He would be the first Lakers player ever to have two jerseys retired, if they do retire both jerseys.

The Lakers will be playing the reigning world champions in the game. LaVar Ball will be able to watch Lonzo Ball, the No. 2 overall pick, take on Steph Curry, who the crazy father said that is better than the two-time MVP for the Warriors.

Since the news leaked, the ticket prices for the game has already greatly increased.
