Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia has been diagnosed with a nasal contusion. He was hit by a foul ball that bounced off of the ground and hit him in the face.

It appears that he did not suffer any fractures to his face. He’s expected to be day-to-day as he recovers from this injury.

He left the Red Sox game with the Baltimore Orioles after the incident. His nose was bleeding and he appeared to be in a lot of pain as he walked off the field.

It’s likely that Pedroia underwent an X-ray before being discovered that he had a nasal contusion. The team also likely put him through concussion protocol.

The 34-year-old Pedroia had one at bat in the game without registering a hit. He has a .304 batting average with seven home runs and 58 RBI’s in 97 games this season.
