MOHNTON, Pa. — Great Clips and Parts Plus Top Fuel pilot Clay Millican remained the No. 1 qualifier at the 33rd annual Dodge NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway. Millican clinched the top spot with his second qualifying pass on Friday afternoon.

Millican went 3.699 at 327.27 mph for the No. 1 qualifying spot. This is his fourth No. 1 qualifying spot of the season — and the ninth of his career.

“I’m very excited because we know that this No. 1 qualifier is a big deal, it pits us in a good spot on the ladder for tomorrow and we want to move up in the points after this race,” Millican said. “We’ve definitely been pushing it each round, trying to see what we can get away with on a hot track, like this, but we will be happy with our bonus points today.”

Millican will receive a bye in the first-round of eliminations on Sunday.

Mac Tools dragster pilot Doug Kalitta, who is the points leader, went 3.704 at 333.66 mph to become the No. 2 qualifier. He’ll face Audrey Worm, who is making her Top Fuel debut at her home track, after she went 6.442 at 106.43 mph.

Steve Torrence qualified third in his Capco Contractors dragster with a 3.720 at 327.66 mph pass. He’ll face fellow Texan Terry Haddock, who went 3.939 at 303.57 mph.

Monster Energy Top Fuel dragster pilot Brittany Force qualified fourth with her 3.730 at 327.90 mph pass. She’ll face Australian Wayne Newby in the first-round, as he went 3.878 at 319.14 mph.

Tony Schumacher, the eight-time Top Fuel champion, qualified fifth with his 3.736 at 330.23 mph pass. He’ll face Scott Palmer, who will look to play spoiler and hurt Schumacher’s Championship chances, with his 3.805 at 324.44 mph pass.
