For the second straight week, John Force Racing president Robert Hight is the provisional No. 1 qualifier at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill. Hight in his AAA Missouri Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car set the track elapsed time in his 3.830 at 333.91 mph pass.

He also set the record during his first qualifying pass on Friday afternoon with the 333.60 mph pass. He’s looking to get his seventh No. 1 qualifier of the season. If his pass will be able to hold up following Saturday’s two sessions, it’ll be his 56th No. 1 qualifier of his career.

“It’s more fun to sit back and watch my teamwork and you know what they’re up against when the conditions are like this,” he said. “No one is really talking, but they’re talking on what they’re doing because they’re trying to make a record run. We got six more points [Friday], we were low each session. Forget records, or anything else, that’s what we’re here for.”

Living legend and PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car pilot John Force is the provisional No. 2 qualifier. He went 3.832 at 334.65 mph for the 68-year-old.

NAPA Auto Parts Dodge Charger Funny Car pilot Ron Capps is the provisional No. 3 qualifier. Capps, who won last weekend’s Dodge NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa., went 3.849 at 332.52 mph.

Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car pilot Alexis DeJoria is the provisional No. 4 qualifier. She went 3.863 at 333.16 mph.

Infinite Hero Foundation Dodge Charger Funny Car pilot Jack Beckman is the provisional No. 5 qualifier. He went 3.873 at 331.77 mph.
