Hines remains No. 1 at St. Louis

Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Andrew Hines is the No. 1 qualifier at the sixth annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill. Hines regained his top spot during Saturday’s final qualifying pass.

Hines went 6.781 at 196.19 mph on Saturday afternoon. This is his second No. 1 qualifier of the season and the 40th of his career.

He’ll face Andie Rawlings in the first-round of eliminations.

“Our guys have these bikes dialed in right now, like they haven’t been all season,” Hines said. I’ve been putting up my best 60-foots of the year this weekend. That just equates to good numbers all the way down the track.

“[Sunday] we’re looking for consistency. We have the street rods under us right now that are the best I’ve had all season long. I’m really excited about [Sunday].”

Hines’ teammate Eddie Krawiec, who has won the past three races dating back to the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals Labor Day weekend, is the No. 2 qualifier. He went 6.783 at 195.59 mph, also during his final qualifying pass.

He’ll face David Hope in the first-round of eliminations, as he went 7.084 at 186.25 mph on his Buell.

Polaris Victory Magnum Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Matt Smith is the No. 3 qualifier with his 6.792 at 197.22 mph pass. He’ll face Steve Johnson in the first-round of eliminations after he went 7.026 at 191.51 on his Suzuki.

Suzuki Extended Protection Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Scotty Pollacheck is the No. 4 qualifier on his Suzuki. Pollacheck, who picked up his first career No. 1 qualifier last weekend at the Dodge NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pa., went 6.809 at 196.42 mph.

He’ll face Ryan Oehler in the first-round of eliminations. Oehler went 6.998 at 191.05 mph on his Buell.

White Alligator Racing founder and reigning PSM World Champion Jerry Savoie is the No. 5 qualifier. He went 6.817 at 197.28 mph on his Suzuki.

He’ll face Marc Ingwersen on his Buell after he went 6.982 at 190.22 in the first-round of eliminations.
