Arkansas State wins big by 17 in Statesboro

The Arkansas State Red Wolves beat down the winless Georgia Southern Eagles on Wednesday night. The Red Wolves won 43-25 over the Eagles at Allen E. Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, Georgia.

With the win, the Red Wolves improved to 2-2. However, with the loss, the Eagles fell to 0-4.

Red Wolves quarterback Justice Hansen went 12 of 26 for 316 yards. He had four touchdown passes and four interceptions.

Warren Wand had 11 carries for 61 yards and two touchdowns. Chris Murray had five receptions for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

Eagles quarterback Shai Werts went 10 of 18 for 160 yards. He had one touchdown pass and two interceptions.

Werts also had 29 carries for 112 yards. Obe Fortune had three receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown.

The Red Wolves outscored the Eagles 21-8 in the second half. Hansen hit Blake Mack for a 29-yard touchdown reception. Wand also scored on a 12-yard rushing touchdown.

Hansen hit Omar Bayless with a 37-yard touchdown reception.

The Eagles’ only second-half points came when Werts hit Fortune for a 50-yard touchdown reception. Werts converted the two-point conversion.

At halftime, the Red Wolves led 22-17. Hansen hit Murray for a 56-yard touchdown reception. Wand also scored on a 25-yard rushing touchdown.

Hansen also connected with Murray with a second touchdown as he caught a 57-yard touchdown reception with 20 seconds left in the first half.

Sawyer Williams also made a 43-yard field goal.

Monteo Garrett scored a 74-yard rushing touchdown for the Eagles. Wesley Fields also scored on an eight-yard rushing touchdown.
