The Michigan State Spartans defeated the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Saturday night. But photos are beginning to circulate on the internet about what several Wolverines players did prior to the game.

Ahead of the game and during “The Star-Spangled Banner,” several players – it appears it was approx. 20 players – decided to lock arms and form a protest.

It was their sign of unity with one another, as the rest of the players, personnel and coaching staff did not protest. Also, it appears there were no Spartan protests.

The protest was not picked up by the ABC cameras, which meant it was not showed at all to the national telecast. Several photographers, who were at the event, did catch the ‘U’ featuring the players.

It’s the first known protest at a college football game. Earlier on Saturday night, Tampa Bay Lightning forward J.T. Brown was the first known player to do a protest in the NHL, as he raised a fist during the national anthem.
