Dodgers advances to the World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers have eliminated the Chicago Cubs, as the reigning World Series champions will have to look to next year now. The Dodgers have advanced to the World Series.

They defeated the Cubs, 11-1, at Wrigley Field. It’s the first-time since 1988 that the Dodgers have advanced to the World Series. img_3871-1

This was the third straight year that the NL Pennant has been won at Wrigley Field. The Dodgers are the fourth team to win by double-digits to clinch a berth in the World Series.

Yet, they are the first team to do it on the road. They will begin the World Series on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.

Kike Hernández had a career game, as he had three home wins and seven RBI’s in the game. He has tied an MLB postseason record with three home runs and seven RBI’s in a postseason game.

Hernández is the 11th player to have three home rubs in a postseason game. Houston Astros infielder Jose Altuve also has a three home run game this postseason.

Logan Forsythe also had two RBI’s. Rookie Chase Bellinger and Justin Turner also had an RBI each.

Kris Bryant accounted for the lone Cubs score, as he hit a home run off of Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw.

Kershaw, the Dodgers ace, picked up the win. He allowed just the home run over six innings. Kershaw struck out five batters and allowed three hits.

Cubs pitcher José Quintana struggled, as he allows six earned runs. He also allowed six hits in just two innings.
