Tennessee Volunteers head coach Butch Jones is on the hot seat. If he loses against the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, he’s likely going to be fired.

Jones has had a horrible past two weeks. The Volunteers suffered their worst loss at Neyland Stadium when they were shut out against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Then, last week against the South Carolina Gamecocks, they could muster just three field goals.

Yet, there is a banner flying over Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday. The banner is out early, as the game does not even start until 3:30 pm EST on CBS’ SEC Game of the Week.

It’s not clear who would spend their own money to fly this banner when Jones’ days are numbered as the Volunteers head coach. Jones has been their head coach for the past five seasons.

He had back-to-back winning seasons in 2015 and 2016, but after a loss today to the Crimson Tide, the Volunteers will fall to 3-4. They’ll also be on a three-game losing streak.

To make matters worse, in those two games to the Bulldogs and Gamecocks, they were outscored 56-9. In fact, the Volunteers offense has struggled, and Jones has been questioned by the media as to why he did not use his best player John Kelly in the final moments in the loss to South Carolina last week.

His potential last win with the team was a 17-13 win over the UMASS Minutemen on Sept. 23.
