The Dallas Cowboys received the word that they were hoping they would not have to deal with this season. Instead of putting it off, at least for the moment, running back Ezekiel Elliott is going to finally be facing his six-game suspension.

Elliott, like before, has the opportunity to appeal the process. It’s not clear, as of yet, if he’ll just sit out the next six games, or he’ll continue to fight it longer.

Tom Brady, who held off suspension for a year due to Deflategate, finally had enough before the beginning of the 2016 season that he gave up his fight and missed the first six games of the season. Elliott was supposed to miss the first six games of this season, but it keeps getting pushed back.

Elliott’s temporary restraining order was dissolved by New York judge Katherine Failla. She was supposed to rule before on the case, but he was given a temporary restraining order by another New York judge.

Elliott now has 24 hours to appeal the decision. Yet, Failla ruled that the NFLPA failed to “show a substantial question that warranted the extraordinary remedy of injunctive relief and that Elliott had enough opportunity to challenge the league’s ruling in arbitration hearings.”

He’ll have to appeal to the second circuit court — and it could then be moved to the fifth circuit court.

Barring any changes, Elliott will not be able to return until Week 15 against the Oakland Raiders. He’ll be eligible to play in the final two games of the season.

This season, despite this looming over him all season, has 690 yards and 210 receiving yards. He also has eight touchdowns in seven games.

Without Elliot, the Cowboys will now turn towards Alfred Morris, who was previously the featured back with the Washington Redskins, and will get to be the main back again.
