Free agent cornerback Vontae Davis has cleared waivers. The former Indianapolis Colts player could now officially sign with any other team in the league.

This was expected, though. He had $4.24 million remaining on his contract — and if any team would have claimed him, they would have been responsible for paying that bill for the rest of the season.

Davis, regardless of going unclaimed on waivers, is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing season-ending groin surgery. He did not play for the Colts in his potential last game, as the Colts faced the Houston Texans in Houston, Texas on Sunday.

Now, the veteran cornerback will enter free agency recovering from his groin surgery, along with some on-the-field question marks.
