Mississippi State Bulldogs redshirt junior quarterback Nick Fitzgerald had successful surgery on his dislocated ankle on Friday. He suffered a gruesome injury on Thanksgiving evening against the Ole Miss Rebels.
Fitzgerald got injured in the first quarter of the Egg Bowl. Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen said that his quarterback will make a full recovery.
At this time, there’s no timetable for his return. He’s likely out for his team’s bowl game, whichever bowl game they play in, as Keytaon Thompson.

Fitzgerald should be ready for the beginning of the season next year. He could even be ready for the team’s activities during spring practice.
The quarterback had X-rays on his injury last night. Yet, he did not want to leave his teammates, as he watched in the first half from the hallway leading to their locker room.
In the second half, he tried to give his team an emotional boost as he returned to the sidelines. Yet, it was a little too late, despite the Bulldogs making the game respectable late.
Fitzgerald had 1,770 passing yards and 15 touchdowns on the season. He also had 968 rushing yards and 14 additional touchdowns.

Fitzgerald went 1 of 5 for 12 yards. He also had three carries for 16 yards before suffering his ankle injury.
Thompson went 13 of 22 for 195 yards. He also had a touchdown and an interception after replacing Fitzgerald. He had 26 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown.
