Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict left Monday Night Football’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on a backboard. He was the second player, who left the game on a backboard.
Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was injured earlier in the game. There is no update on his condition.
According to an early report, Steelers GM Kevin Colbert reportedly told head coach Mike Tomlin that Shazier had no movement in his legs.
Burfict took a vicious block from Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. The rookie was flagged on the play for an illegal block.
He also received a personal foul for taunting Burfict by standing over him following the block. Burfict, while he was down, was moving his arms.
Burfict reportedly suffered a head injury on the play. Smith-Schuster was blocking the troubled Bengals linebacker as Le’Veon Bell was rushing the ball.
The Bengals will provide an update on his condition after the game if they know one by then.
A short time later, the Bengals retaliated with a hard hit on wide receiver Antonio Brown.
These two teams have had bad blood for years. Yet, these two incidents have continued to bad blood.
Smith-Schuster and safety George Ikola may have lighter pockets moving forward with the NFL calling this week.
