Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Pavin Smith gave his parents one gift that they will never forget. Smith, a 21-year-old first baseman, paid off his parents mortgage.

He gave his parents a note that his mother read with his father and his sister nearby.

This is not the first-time that parents had their mortgage paid for by their parents. However, this may be the first-time that an athlete has shared this news on social media.

Smith, who was a star with the Virginia Cavaliers, who helped the team to the 2015 College World Series Championship, officially signed with the Diamondbacks last June. He was the seventh overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft and signed for $5.016 million.

“Thank you for raising me in a great home filled with love,” Smith said on Twitter to his mother Pamela and his father Tim in the gift of a lifetime. “Because of all the sacrifices you made to get me where I am, I want our family home to be yours,” read the letter.”

Smith had a .318 batting average in 51 Single-A games this past season after signing. He also had 27 walks and 24 strikeouts.

“Thank you for everything you have done for me!,” Smith also said in a Tweet. “This doesn’t make up for any of it. Love you both so much. Our home is finally all YOURS. Merry Christmas!”
