The No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Markelle Fultz, is expected to do team activities this week, according to ESPN.com. Fultz is traveling with the team during its West Coast road trip.
He’s expected to ramp up the team drills on the trip. The Sixers play the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday. They then close out the trip with the Denver Nuggets on Saturday and the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.
While Fultz is inching closer to returning to the team after suffering a shoulder injury, there is presently no timetable on his return. He has not appeared in a game since October 23rd after appearing in just four games.
Fultz — who is apart of the young core of the Sixers future — has been sidelined with a scapular muscle imbalance in his right shoulder. Earlier this month, the team announced that Fultz — who the team acquired the rights to in a trade with the Boston Celtics prior to the draft — was no longer dealing with problems in his shoulder.
According to ESPN.com, he could be re-evaluated to play this coming Saturday after his three-way evaluation period comes to an end.
The 19-year-old Fultz is averaging 6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.3 blocks, and 0.5 steals per game. The Sixers won one of the four games that he has played in this season.
