The No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs faces the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners in the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual in the College Football Playoff Semifinal game No. 1. The game will kick off at 5 pm on ESPN from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

Both teams come into this game with identical 12-1 records.

There is some question marks going into this game, as Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield has been dealing with an illness. While he has practiced — and talked only once to the media during Media Day — Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley does not believe he’ll be a 100%.

According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis, the Sooners have a 55% chance to win this game, according to their public poll. Their expert poll; however, gives the Sooners a 75% chance to win this game.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

The Sooners are 29-20-1 all-time in Bowl games. They won their last Bowl game as they defeated the Auburn Tigers, 35-19, in the Sugar Bowl on January 2nd, 2017.

They have not lost a Bowl game since losing 37=17 to the Clemson Tigers in the Orange Bowl on December 31st, 2015.

This will be Riley’s first Bowl game after taking over as head coach for the team in June when Bob Stoops suddenly retired. The win in the Super Bowl snapped a two-game Bowl losing streak.

This is their second-ever appearance in the Rose Bowl Game. But this is their second appearance in the College Football Playoff Semifinal, as they lost to the Tigers.

They defeated the Washington State Cougars, 34-14, on January 1st, 2003 in their first Rose Bowl Game win. They are 2-0 in games in the State of California, as they defeated the Oregon Ducks, 17-14, in the Holiday Bowl on December 29th, 2005.

The Bulldogs are 30-19-3 all-time in Bowl games. They have played in a record 17 different Bowl games, while they are tied for the fourth-most bowl appearances. The team is also tied for third all-time in Bowl game wins.

Georgia is 1-0 under Kirby Smart as head coach in Bowl games. They have won three straight Bowl games, defeating the Louisville Cardinals, Penn State Nittany Lions and the TCU Horned Frogs.

They have not lost a Bowl game since January 1st, 2014 when they lost 24-19 to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Like the Sooners, this is the Bulldogs second-ever appearance in the Rose Bowl Game. They defeated the UCLA Bruins, 9-0, in their second-ever Bowl game on January 1st, 1943. This is also their only appearance in a Bowl game in the State of California.

Georgia has won their last three regular-season games, defeating the Kentucky Wildcats, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Auburn Tigers in the SEC Championship game. They have not lost a game since losing 40-17 to the Tigers on November 11th, 2017.

Oklahoma has won their last eight regular-season games. They have not lost a game since losing 38-31 to the Iowa State Cyclones on October 7th, 2017.

Georgia is averaging 34.9 points per game. Oklahoma is averaging 44.9 points per game.

Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm has gone 145 of 230 for 2,173 passing yards. He has 21 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Nick Chubb leads the running backs with a 191 carries for 1,175 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. Javon Wims leads the receivers with 38 receptions for 631 receptions for six touchdowns.

Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield has gone 262 of 369 for 4,340 passing yards. He has 41 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Rodney Anderson leads the running backs with a 162 carries for 960 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Marquise Brown leads the receivers with 49 receptions for 981 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
