NFL playoff preview: Tennessee vs. Kansas City

The Tennessee Titans face the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Wild Card round game on Saturday afternoon. The game will kick off at 4:35 pm on ESPN at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Titans come into this contest with a 9-7 record. The Chiefs, who won the AFC West Division, have a 10-6 record.

According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis, the Titans have a 54% chance to win this game, according to their public poll. Their expert poll; however, gives the Titans a 56% chance to win this game.

The Titans have won the past two games in this series, as they won in 2014 and 2016. The Chiefs have not won in this series since a 26-17 win on October 6th, 2013.

In the past 10 games, dating back to November 19th, 19995, each team has won five games. Besides the past two by the Titans, Tennessee also won 34-10 on October 19th, 2008. They also won 26-17 on December 16th, 2007.

The other Titans win came in a 17-14 contest on September 10th, 2000.

Besides the October 6th, 2013 win by the Chiefs, they also won 34-14 on December 26th, 2010. Kansas City also won 49-38 on December 13th, 2004. The Chiefs also won back-to-back years in 1995 and 1996.

Tennessee has not won a playoff game since January 11th, 2002 as they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, 34-31. They last lost a playoff game on January 10th, 2008 against the Baltimore Ravens when they lost 13-10.

Kansas City has not won a playoff game since January 16th, 1993 when they defeated the Houston Oilers, 28-20. They last lost a playoff game on January 15th, 2017 against the Pittsburgh Steelers when they lost 18-16.

The Titans won their last regular-season game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, 15-10, on December 31st, 2017. Their last regular-season loss came on Christmas Eve, as they lost 27-23 to the Los Angeles Rams.

The Chiefs ended the regular-season on a four-game win streak. They have not lost a regular-season game since losing 38-31 to the New York Jets on December 3rd, 2017.

Tennessee is averaging 20.9 points per game. Kansas City is averaging 25.9 points per game.

Marcus Mariota, the Titans quarterback, has gone 281 of 453 for 3,232 passing yards. He has 13 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

Derrick Henry leads the running backs with 176 carries for 744 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Delanie Walker leads the receivers with 74 receptions for 807 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Alex Smith, the Chiefs quarterback, has gone 341 of 505 for 4,042 passing yards. He has 26 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Kareem Hunt leads the running backs with 272 carries for 1,327 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Tyreek Hill leads the receivers with 75 receptions for 1,183 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
