The Indiana Pacers have waived swingman Damien Wilkins, according to Yahoo Sports. Wilkins started for the team last night, as he had 11 points in the Pacers 125-86 win over the Chicago Bulls.
Wilkins signed with the team prior to this season. Yahoo Sports is reporting that this move gives them more flexibility moving forward.
This is the second straight day a veteran has been released by their team. The Los Angeles Lakers released center Andrew Bogut on Saturday.
Wilkins is looking for new employment after the Pacers helped reveal the identity of his third baby. The Pacers mascot revealed it is a baby boy.
The 37-year-old to the Association this season after not playing since 2013 with the Philadelphia 76ers. He may attempt to give it another shot in the league.
He has played for the Seattle SuperSonics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons and the 76ers before joining the Pacers.
He has also played overseas. He played for the Beijing Ducks, Indios de Mayagüez, Guaros de Lara, and the Brujos de Guayama. He was the FIBA Americas League Grand Final MVP in 2016.
He also has played in the G-League with the Iowa Energy and the Greensboro Swarm.
